TROY, OH – In the wake of protests going on across the country in response to the police murder of George Floyd, we here at The Miami Bugle Caller wanted to take a moment to remember more peaceful times.
With images of police brutality popping up left and right across the nation, isn’t it nice to remember when Troy PD was so dumb, so incompetent that they couldn’t manage a simple sting operation? Despite their hundreds of hours of Police training (albeit fewer hours than it takes to become a licenced cosmetologist), Troy Police couldn’t manage to bring down any real drug dealers, but instead managed to purchase some flowers.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that when a stranger contacts you through Facebook to pick up some of the “green stuff,” that they’re almost definitely an undercover cop. Even more red flags are raised when the “buyer” suggests meeting at such an obvious location as Troy Community Park.
Throughout this crisis of character in our country, we’ve seen many police officers go undercover and manage to incite riots while hiding their identity. Despite the urban legend, officers have no obligation to tell you they’re an officer while undercover. Apparently training in Troy didn’t get around to that, with the officer’s eyes lighting up immediately when asked if he’s a cop. “Yeah…. No” replied the officer, in sheer stupidity that not even Barney Fife couldn’t top.
In an unconstitutional move (for the police reading: unconstitutional means not in accordance with a political constitution, especially the US Constitution, or with procedural rules), police opted to take the phone of the “suspect” and delete any video evidence of the interaction. However, thanks to the lack of any brain power on the force, they neglected to realize there’s a “recently deleted” folder in most smartphones, meaning the video wasn’t actually erased.
And then, there’s the moment an officer pulls a gun on the local flower peddler and police embarrasser. Despite being only armed with dandelions, and showing no visible or implied threat, officers pulled up, guns drawn at an innocent citizen. Police officers are so weak and scared in Troy that they can’t handle a weed dealer (a drug that in many jurisdictions is now legal, and is largely decriminalized in Ohio) without pulling a gun.
Ultimately, this situation ended as a huge embarrassment for Troy PD, making the front page of Reddit that day. While we were lucky that the situation didn’t end in violence, police across the country have been abusing their power to inflict violence on otherwise peaceful protestors.
