Hook Elementary Students Storm the Stage With “Spring Awakening”

TROY, OH — Putting on an annual production of Spring Awakening is no easy task, but Hook Elementary drama teacher Kaytlyn Grunderson makes it look easy. “The real problem is incorporating the graphic sexual content in a way that isn’t upsetting to audiences. While we’re not quite there yet, we’re pretty close”.

As students clamor to prepare, some within the school are questioning the tradition that has been going on since the school’s founding in 1966. “Frankly, those kids make me horny and I don’t like it!” says local fisherman DeWayne Ulry, “if I’m getting kid boners, then what does that say about me?”

As for the parents, some are more than happy to see their children express themselves creatively, like Natasha Hoyenfield, parent of fourth grader Kylor Hotenfield. “Yeah, at first I was weirded out by the sex stuff, but they move past it pretty quick” said the glowing guardian.

Showings will be this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:30. Purchase tickets by contacting the Hook Elementary box office at 937-332-6760.
